Artist Statement
I am a Lithuanian-born interdisciplinary artist raised in Ireland. My work is deeply influenced by the Baltic folklore and superstitions passed down through my family. Inspired by stories in which nature is not passive, but a living force that demands reverence. Childhood summers spent fishing in lakes, foraging in birch forests, and inventing rituals by water’s edge continue to shape the emotional and symbolic language of my practice.
I am consistently drawn to themes of nature and femininity, interweaving elements of pagan mysticism with gothic aesthetics. My experience of growing between cultures informs both the content and process of my work. I see my practice as fluid and evolving, an entity that transforms alongside me as an artist, researcher, teacher, and individual.
Collaboration is central to my approach. I regularly work with musicians to create visual responses to sound, appear in short films and music videos, and perform poetry at local events. I engage across artistic disciplines and communities because I see art as a connective force that transcends language and cultural boundaries, fostering shared understanding and exchange.
