Research Statement

As a Lithuanian woman raised in Ireland, my experience of navigating multiple cultural identities informs my research interests in belonging, equity, and representation. I am particularly concerned with how educational environments can both reinforce and challenge systems of exclusion, and I am committed to exploring ways to foster more inclusive and supportive learning spaces.

My research focuses on the ways in which stereotypes and biases manifest within classrooms, and how these dynamics impact students’ sense of identity, participation, and wellbeing. I have developed a questionnaire-based study to examine how both educators and students can actively engage in addressing prejudice and cultivating more inclusive practices.

While my current research centres on educational settings, my broader work is informed by a feminist perspective and an awareness of intersectionality. I recognise that experiences of discrimination are shaped by the interaction of gender, culture, race, and other identities, and these considerations underpin my approach.

Through my research, I aim to contribute to the development of educational practices and policies that prioritise equity, ensuring that all individuals feel safe, respected, and empowered within learning environments.
